Some nights, your dreams seem to be tidying up: sorting, saying goodbye, crossing water. If you write them down, check the lunar calendar: more often than not, the Moon is fading. Learning to understand your dreams then takes on a whole new color.
This isn't a dream dictionary or a ritual for the big day: this page is about the three nights before the New Moon, before you even set your New Moon wishes. What is your subconscious preparing while the Moon goes quiet?

Why Do Dreams in the 3 Days Before the New Moon Matter? 🌘
In the lunar cycle, these last days have a name. Astrologer Dane Rudhyar called the final eighth of the lunation the balsamic phase, the roughly three and a half days before the New Moon: a time to release the past and prepare the seed of the next cycle. He even described it as having a "prophetic" quality.
Tradition also speaks of the dark moon (not to be confused with Lilith): about three nights when the Moon can no longer be seen. A time of rest and letting go, the image of a seed sleeping underground. In ancient Athens, on the last evening of the lunar month, people purified their homes and left a meal at the crossroads for Hecate and the wandering souls.
No wonder, then, that the dreams of those nights speak of endings and preparation. The next New Moon falls on November 9, 2026, in Scorpio: the nights of November 6 to 9 are yours. 🌙
