Over my years of practice, I've seen it happen a hundred times. A stone calls, always in one of these four ways, and its call often speaks to whatever is stuck inside you. So which one is reaching out to you right now?

It's one of the most widely shared sayings among crystal healers: you don't pick the crystal, the crystal picks you. Behind it lies a simple idea from the tradition: every stone carries an energy, and you're naturally drawn to the one you need, not necessarily the one you think you want.

That's why the list of properties you read before walking into the shop is so often wrong. There are no coincidences: a stone's call is a little sign from the Universe, and it deserves your attention.

The Glance That Keeps Coming Back 👁️

You scan the display, move on… and your eyes land on the same stone again, twice, three times. Sometimes you don't even find it pretty. What it says about you: a need you haven't put into words yet, one your eyes recognized before your mind did.

The Hand That Won't Let Go ✋

You pick it up and something happens: warmth, a slight tingle, a weight that feels just right. You put it down and you miss it. What it says about you: something your body is missing, grounding, gentleness or drive, that the stone comes to fill.

The Stone That Shows Up Everywhere 🔁

Someone gives it to you out of the blue, you find it at the bottom of a drawer, its name comes up in a conversation and then in a shop window. What it says about you: a message you keep putting off. When the Universe insists, it's often because the door has been waiting for a while.

The Dream or Thought That Lingers 🌙

It drifts through a dream, or comes back to mind three days after the shop. What it says about you: something you don't yet dare to face in waking life. Write the dream down when you wake up, along with how you felt: that's your first clue.

What Your Crystal's Color Says About Your Blocks 🌈

Since the 1970s, Western crystal healing has linked each color to a chakra, one of the body's energy centers. Look at the color of the stone that's calling you: according to the tradition, it points to the chakra that needs attention.

And the stone that puts you off? It speaks too. According to crystal healers, the one you push aside often touches an old knot you'd rather avoid. A black tourmaline that makes you uneasy, for example, raises the question of your boundaries and your protection.

How to Choose Your Crystal When It Calls You 🙏

The ritual takes three steps, whether you're in a shop or in front of your own collection.

• Arrive without a list. Three slow breaths, a simple intention (“I let what I need come to me”), and above all, don't read the labels before you've chosen.
• Let your hand decide. Pass your non-dominant hand, the receiving hand in the tradition, over the stones, then pick up the ones that reach out to you. Keep the one you miss when you put it down.
• Test the call. At home, keep it by your bed for three nights. If it still soothes or intrigues you, the call was real; only then read up on its properties.

Before you adopt it, cleanse it and charge it under the Full Moon. And if it's joining other stones, check which stones should never be combined.
