How the Celtic cross spread is laid out

The spread comes in two parts: a central cross of six cards, then four cards in a column on the right. It is drawn from the 22 major arcana of the Tarot of Marseille, whose symbolic weight carries emotional questions better than the minors.

The central cross:

• Card 1 — in the centre.
• Card 2 — laid horizontally across the first.
• Card 3 — above card 1.
