With the baraja this draw says more than it seems, because every card already carries a number and a suit: the 7 of Coins does not say the same thing as the King of Coins, even though both speak of money. The number gives the stage, the suit gives the field.

Three-pile spread: three ways into the same question

Here you do not draw cards one by one: you split the pack into three piles, laid out as a triangle. Each pile lights up a different angle of the same question.

The number of cards turned over per pile is not fixed — hence the label "variable". The most common practice is to turn the first card of each pile, then draw one or two more on whichever pile stays the most obscure.

The cards are laid left to right in a single line and read like a story:
