In the Egyptian tarot, the 56 minor arcana fall into 4 suits of 14 cards. The Wands take up numbers 22 to 35: in this deck each suit forms one continuous block, and the numbering does not start over at 1 for each suit.

Also called the Batons, the Wands belong to the 4 Latin suits, a system of symbols born in Northern Italy in the 15th century. The minor arcana of the Egyptian tarot are very close to those of the Tarot of Marseille: what sets them apart is mainly their continuous numbering and the keywords printed on them.
Astrologically, the Wands are linked to the element of Fire, to the signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, and to the spring season.

That is why which way up a card lands matters as much as the card itself. For no. 22 and no. 23, the editions consulted describe a person rather than a single reversed keyword.
The four court cards (King of Wands, Queen, Knight, Page) most often stand for people around the querent, described by their looks or their situation — where the numeral cards describe situations. In the classic editions of the Grand Etteilla these figures even carry proper names: Monarque, Souveraine, Chevalier du guet and Messager.

Why are the Wands numbered 22 to 35?
Because the Egyptian tarot numbers its 78 cards continuously: 21 major arcana from 1 to 21, then the 56 minors from 22 to 77, and finally the 78th card, Madness. The Wands form the 22-35 block. A card is therefore quoted by its number as much as by its name.
Are the Wands of the Egyptian tarot the same as those of the Tarot of Marseille?
They are very close: the same Latin suits, the same split into 10 numeral cards and 4 court cards. Two differences count: the continuous numbering (22 to 35 instead of Ace to King) and the printed keywords on every card, specific to the Etteilla tradition. Those keywords were written in French and their exact wording varies from one edition of the deck to another.
