In a 32-card deck, Diamonds covers the concrete: what you undertake, what you sign, what you learn, what moves. Its cards are the most factual in the deck — a contract, a delay, a house move, an offer.

It is also the most ambivalent of the four suits: it announces the good news and the blockage alike, and being a red suit is not enough to settle which.

The 8 cards of Diamonds

From the Ace to the King, eight cards only: five numbered cards, which announce an event, and three court cards, which point to a person.

A word on method: the reading we follow fixes the role of the court cards — a man over 35, a woman over 35, a young man — rather than a keyword specific to each suit. We therefore cast that role in the suit's own domain. The only two exceptions our source states explicitly are the Queen of Diamonds, who may stand for a rival, and the Jack of Spades, a rival.
