What does the color blue mean?
The color of travel, blue sparks a longing for escape or, more simply, for change. It is a symbol of infinity, associated with knowledge and intelligence. Its contemplative nature also makes it the color of peace, security and stability. And like water, it calls for clarity: with blue, nothing can be hidden, hence its link with loyalty and sincerity.
Everything depends on the shade: a sky blue refreshes and soothes, a midnight blue plunges into mystery and secrecy. Taken to extremes, the calm of blue can slide into passivity or melancholy: it is no coincidence that we speak of “having the blues”.
👉 In France, blue is linked to the monarchy: royal blue dressed the French Guards who protected the king. On the tricolor flag, however, blue is, together with red, the color of the city of Paris.
