What does the color brown mean?
Brown offers a feeling of stability and a reassuring side. It evokes the earth, nature and a return to one's roots; neither sad nor joyful, it above all expresses comfort, a gentle, almost motherly protection. It is also the color of chocolate, which soothes and brings back childhood.
Its bad reputation comes from its association with mud, dirt or stagnation. Yet everything depends on the shade: a luminous beige speaks of softness, modesty and faithfulness; a light brown of friendship, peace and kindness; a deep brown of the raw strength of earth and wood.
👉 As the color of renouncing the material world, brown was chosen by the Franciscans and the Capuchins for their rough habits.
