If you are more sentimental, you can choose a sapphire, a ruby for passion or an emerald for hope. When the stone is surrounded by several smaller ones, it is called an accented solitaire.

Set with two gemstones of the same size, the toi et moi (“you and me”) ring was given as an engagement ring until the early 20th century. Napoleon Bonaparte gave one to Joséphine de Beauharnais, set with a diamond and a sapphire.
Still very romantic, it is now given on any occasion to the love of your life, because it represents the union of two partners: the closeness of the two stones shows that two individuals form a whole. For the height of romance, have it made with your respective birthstones.

As its name suggests, the trilogy ring has three stones. The number 3 carries many interpretations, and its symbolism is very strong: giving it says you want to live the three great stages of a relationship together, birth, life and death, or friendship, love and fidelity.
Not to be confused with the Trinity ring: three interlaced bands, one in yellow gold, one in white gold and one in rose gold, carrying the same symbolism. Cartier created it in 1924, for Jean Cocteau according to the house’s legend.

The eternity ring, or eternity band, is set all the way around with diamonds or gemstones. This endless succession of stones is the ultimate symbol of eternal love, and it is often given for a wedding anniversary or the birth of a child.
