Who is the angel Chavaquiah?

The origin of the name Chavaquiah

Chavaquiah is the 35th sacred name of the Shem HaMephorash — the 72 divine names drawn by the Kabbalists from the three verses of Exodus (XIV, 19-21). His Hebrew name כוקיה literally translates as "God who gives joy". Tradition also calls him the "Conciliator of God", the one who brings back together what life has torn apart. The traditional call formula drawn from the Psalms is: "I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy." (Psalm 116, v.1).

His place in the angelic hierarchy

Chavaquiah belongs to the choir of the Powers — the angels who keep the balance of the world and guard the soul from torment, placed under the authority of the Sephirah Geburah, that of rigor and justice. It is they who make sure nothing, not even an old grudge, breaks the order of the heart. His ruling archangel is Camael, the archangel of righteous love and the courage to love.

His spiritual mission

Chavaquiah's mission is to reunite what stands opposed. He turns enemies into friends, soothes family quarrels and revives the taste for brotherhood. He is also the angel of human relationships: he favors listening, mutual aid and that kindness which expects nothing in return.

Those born under his protection long for a peaceful life. They loathe pointless arguments, forgive easily and show rare empathy — sometimes to the point of forgetting themselves to keep the peace around them. Chavaquiah invites them to stand up for themselves as much as they soothe others.

Chavaquiah is especially attentive on his annual regency days: April 23, July 5, September 16, November 28 and February 9. During the day, he is most receptive between 11:20 and 11:40 am. This is the ideal time to entrust him with a reconciliation close to your heart.

How to prepare

Withdraw to a quiet place, breathe deeply and clearly state your intention of peace. If possible, light some nutmeg and benzoin incense. You may hold a rhodonite stone in your hand to amplify the connection. What matters most is sincerity.
