His Hebrew name יֵרַתְּאֵל translates literally as "God who punishes the wicked". His key is the love of justice, that inner demand which protects without wounding. The traditional invocation drawn from the Psalms is: "Rescue me, Yeratel, from evildoers; protect me from the violent" (Psalm 140, v.1).
Yeratel belongs to the choir of the Dominions — the angels who regulate the order of the world and temper strength with wisdom, placed under the authority of the Sephira Hesed, mercy. It is from this choir that his ability to restore balance where injustice reigns comes. His ruling archangel is Archangel Zadkiel, keeper of clemency and forgiveness.
