Yabamiah is the angel of inner alchemy. Where other angels comfort or protect, he transforms: he takes what is damaged, heavy and painful, and makes it fertile again. He is the angel of second departures, of career changes, of recoveries, and of the work you thought you would never be able to start.
Yabamiah is the seventieth sacred name of the Shem HaMephorash — the 72 divine names drawn by the kabbalists from three verses of Exodus (XIV, 19-21). His Hebrew name יְבַמְיָה translates literally as "God who produces all things", and tradition gives him as his key the eternal fertility of God. He is unique among the 72: his calling verse is not taken from the Psalms but from the very first line of the Bible — "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (Genesis 1:1).
Yabamiah belongs to the choir of the Angels — the ninth and last choir, the closest to humankind, placed under the authority of the Sephira Yesod. These angels accompany a human being at every stage of life, from the first steps to the final threshold. He is placed in the care of the archangel Gabriel, messenger of the annunciation and guardian of births. Within that choir, Yabamiah stands between the angel Rahel, who gives back what was lost, and the angel Haiaiel, who grants the courage to act.
His mission comes down to one word: to regenerate. Yabamiah works on the very nature of hardship: a break-up becomes a turning point, an illness a lesson in patience, a failure know-how. He works slowly, the way water hollows out stone, and his action is rarely measured in the moment.
Tradition also entrusts him with a graver task: to accompany those who leave and those who stay. Yabamiah softens the fear of death, helps you sit with a loved one at the end of life, and reminds us that nothing in creation truly disappears.
