Umabel's message
“You think you have to make yourself indispensable in order to be loved. Rest. The people who truly love you are not counting what you bring them; they are counting the times you simply showed up. Stop keeping score — you too.”
“I am not asking you to care less. I am asking you to care differently: without losing yourself. Look at the January sky — those stars so far apart, and yet held together. That is the friendship I offer you, the kind that leaves room to breathe.”
✦ ✦ ✦
Umabel is the angel of bonds that stand on their own. Tradition makes him the guardian of friendship and affinity — that instant recognition between two people who had no reason to meet. He is also, more quietly, the angel of those who want to understand the world: astronomers, physicists, teachers, and the incurably curious.
Umabel is the sixty-first sacred name of the Shem HaMephorash — the 72 divine names drawn by the kabbalists from the three verses of Exodus (XIV, 19-21). His Hebrew name ומבאל translates literally as “God above all things”. His key, “Friendship in God”, says a great deal about how he works: he does not bring people together out of interest, but out of genuine affinity. The traditional invocation drawn from the Psalms is: “Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.” (Psalm 113, v. 2).
Umabel belongs to the choir of the Archangels — the eighth of the nine choirs, the messengers whose task is to make the divine legible to human beings — under the authority of the Sephira Hod, seat of intelligence, of clear speech and of transmission. They are sometimes called the scribes of heaven: they translate, they bring within reach. His ruling archangel is Michael, prince of the heavenly host, the one who separates the true from the false. Within this choir his immediate neighbours are Mitzrael, who comes before him, and Iah Hel, who follows.
Umabel governs friendship, affinity and everything that binds two people over time. His mission is not to surround you with people: it is to place the right ones in front of you, and to give you the clear-sightedness to recognise the rest for what they are.
He is a masculine-polarity angel of the element Air, under the influence of Mercury and the Sun — speech and clarity. He works on what circulates: the words you finally dare to say, the misunderstandings you clear up, the quarrels you repair. He also works on what you let go, because real friendship means not holding on. That is his second face, detachment: loving without owning, holding without gripping.
If Umabel is your protecting angel, know that he is always watching over you, wherever you are. He tends to signal himself through small things — a white feather on your doorstep, a name that comes back to you three times in one day. He may also decide to send you a message through a mirror hour. Stay alert 😉.

✦ ✦ ✦
Those born under Umabel are said to be kind-hearted, generous and sincere. Here are the four qualities his influence works on first.
🤝
True friendship
He draws in the people with whom understanding comes effortlessly, and quietly removes the relationships that cost more than they give.
🌌
A thirst to understand
Angel of astronomers, physicists and teachers, he feeds the appetite for learning and the rarer pleasure of passing knowledge on.
🕊️
Detachment
He loosens the grip: you can love someone deeply without needing to keep them. That is where serenity comes back.
💬
Words that reconnect
Under Mercury, he loosens the tongue at the right moment: the fair sentence, said without aggression, that brings two people back into agreement.
✦ ✦ ✦
Umabel is the angel of human relationships. He is called upon when a bond seizes up: a falling-out that drags on, a circle that closes, a loneliness that settles in without ever having been chosen. He does not manufacture artificial friendships; he puts on your path the people with whom something is genuinely possible.
Tradition also gives him a protective role. He guards against the race for recognition, that need to be seen which ends up damaging sincere bonds. Under his protection, you seek less to shine and more to be fair.
You can call on Umabel if:
✦ ✦ ✦
Umabel listens most closely on his annual regency days: May 20, August 1, October 13, December 25 and March 8. Within the day, he is most receptive between 8:00 pm and 8:20 pm, a window that falls just as the day closes and your thoughts turn to the people who matter. Outside these windows the call is still heard; it simply does not carry as far.
Find a quiet place away from screens, and think precisely about the person or the bond behind your request — Umabel works on the concrete, not on vague intentions. If you can, light Mastic and Frankincense incense. You may hold a chalcedony stone in your hand to strengthen the connection. What matters most is sincerity.
Prayer to the angel Umabel 🕯️
To invoke Umabel, say this prayer with Mastic and Frankincense incense:
“Angel Umabel!
“Let my passions be, Lord, those of loving, blessing my loved ones and God.
“Let my burning desire be that of being useful to my neighbour and myself.
“Let my quest, within my inner self, have no other aim than finding yourself in me; your strength in my weakness.
“You are, Angel Umabel, my future!
“Do not distance yourself from me, so that all those who surround me, searching for a friend or support, can find you, you, through me.
“Umabel!
“It is through your strength and my will that I can fully succeed and allow my neighbour to succeed.
“I am counting on your presence and your love for me.
“Amen!”
Reciting this verse is an invocation in itself. According to kabbalistic tradition it carries the Hebrew letters of Umabel's name.
“Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.”
