Some words wound, and some words mend. Daniel is the angel of the second kind. The fiftieth name of the Shem HaMephorash, he does not prove you right: he hands you the right words — the ones that end an argument, the ones that earn a pardon, the ones you will not regret tomorrow.

Daniel is the guardian angel who watches over people born between November 28 and December 2, under the sign of Sagittarius. His name means « The sign of mercies », and his whole mission is held in it: to obtain forgiveness, and to say it in the right words.

Who is the angel Daniel?

Daniel is the angel of true speech and of mercy. Those he protects are often calm, well-balanced, thoughtful people — the ones whose opinion everyone asks for. Behind that apparent gentleness lies a very firm will: they know exactly where they are going, and they refuse to be pushed around.

The origin of the name Daniel

Daniel is the fiftieth sacred name of the Shem HaMephorash — the 72 divine names drawn by the kabbalists from the three verses of Exodus (XIV, 19-21). His Hebrew name דָּנִיאֵל, built on the trigram Dalet-Nun-Yod (ד-נ-י) and the divine suffix -el, is rendered in the angelic tradition as « The sign of mercies ». Tradition also gives him the key « The angel of confessions »: the one before whom everything can be said. The traditional call taken from the Psalms is: « The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. » (Psalm 103, v. 8).

His place in the angelic hierarchy

Daniel belongs to the choir of the Principalities — the seventh angelic order, the one that watches over large wholes, peoples and vocations, placed under the authority of the Sephira Netzach, victory and perseverance. The Principalities do not deal with the detail of our days: they hold the course. His ruling archangel is Haniel, whose name means "the grace of God" and who governs beauty, love and everything that binds the human to the divine. He comes right after the angel Vehuel, guardian of elevation, and before the angel Hahasiah, healer and keeper of the secrets of matter.

His spiritual mission

Daniel's mission is to loosen tongues and lighten consciences. He works on the life mission, health and karma: he does not plead in your place, he makes you able to plead — for yourself, and sometimes for others.

He is also a physician of speech. He is called on against speech difficulties, stuttering, the stage fright that tightens the throat at exactly the wrong moment; and again when a negotiation turns sour and someone has to mediate. He protects against deceitful eloquence, slander and informing, and in return develops diplomacy, delicacy of speech and a sense of justice. His favourite fields: law, teaching, mediation — every trade where you answer for what you say.

If Daniel is your protecting angel, know that he is always watching over you, wherever you are. He may well decide to send you a message if he feels you need to hear it, by sending you a mirror hour. Stay alert 😉.

The ideal moment

Daniel listens most closely on his annual regency days: May 9, July 21, October 2, December 14 and February 25. Within the day, he is most receptive between 16:20 and 16:40. Nothing stops you from calling him outside those windows: they simply make the passage easier, like a door left ajar.

How to prepare

Choose a place where nobody will interrupt you, and say out loud what is weighing on you before you pray — that is already half the way. Light Sandalwood and Storax incense if you can. You may hold an Emerald in your hand to strengthen the link. Sincerity is what matters.
