Who is the angel Damabiah?

Damabiah is the angel of living waters and of wisdom that flows without effort. Where other spirits grant strength or brilliance, she grants calm — that rare form of intelligence which consists of letting the dust settle before deciding. Tradition made her the angel of seafarers: she protects against shipwrecks, those of boats and those of lives alike.

The origin of the name Damabiah

Damabiah is the 65th sacred name of the Shem HaMephorash — the 72 divine names drawn by the kabbalists from the three verses of Exodus (XIV, 19-21). Her Hebrew name דמביה translates literally as "God fountain of wisdom". Her traditional key, "God's appeasement", says the same thing differently: the wisdom she passes on is not an accumulation, it is a settling. The traditional invocation formula drawn from the Psalms is: "Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants." (Psalm 90, v.13).

Her place in the angelic hierarchy

Damabiah belongs to the choir of the Angels — the ninth and last choir, the closest to humankind, placed under the authority of the Sephirah Yesod. These messengers accompany human life in its daily detail, one step at a time. Her ruling archangel is Gabriel, the herald, the one who carries to the world what heaven has decided to say. Her closest neighbours in the decan are the angel Mehiel, who precedes her, and the angel Manakel, who follows.

Her spiritual mission

Her mission comes down to a single gesture: giving murky water back its transparency. Grudges, old fears, anger stirred for years — Damabiah does not deny them, she lets them settle until the bottom becomes visible again.

This is why she is called upon against outer storms as much as inner ones. She protects seafaring trades and journeys over water, but also those inner crossings where the shore is no longer in sight. She does not stop the swell: she teaches you to hold the tiller without panicking, until the sea settles of its own accord.

The right moment

Damabiah listens especially closely on her annual regency days: March 12, May 24, August 5, October 17 and December 29. Within the day, she is most receptive between 9:20 and 9:40 pm. It is no accident that the mirror hour 21:21 falls inside her window: that is often how she signals her presence.

How to prepare

Choose a quiet place and, if you can, set a glass of water in front of you: water is her calling element. Light some Electra incense if possible. You may hold a moonstone in your hand to amplify the link. Sincerity is what matters most.
