Cahetel is the 8th sacred name of the Shem HaMephorash — the 72 divine names drawn by the kabbalists from the three verses of Exodus (XIV, 19-21). His Hebrew name כַּהֵתֵאֵל literally translates as "adorable God." Tradition also calls him the "Ploughman of God," the one who blesses the work of the land. The traditional call drawn from the Psalms is: "Come, let us bow down and worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker." (Psalm 95:6).
Cahetel belongs to the choir of the Seraphim — the highest rank of the celestial hierarchy, placed under the authority of the Sephirah Kether, the Crown. The Seraphim exist to purify and to draw souls closer to the divine light. This choir also includes fellow Seraphim such as Vehuiah and Elemiah. His ruling archangel is Metatron, the mightiest of the archangels and guardian of the celestial threshold.
