The origins and history of Ametrine
If this stone reminds you of another one, that’s totally normal. Ametrine gets its name and its hue from two other minerals... "Ame"? "Trine"? Do you have an idea? Well, it was born from a natural mixture between the Amethyst stone and Citrine, which makes it one of the rarest minerals around.
It is the difference in temperature between two geological layers that is responsible for the discoloration of the initial deposit of Amethyst, which gave birth to Ametrine.
This stone is found in large quantities in Bolivia. The most exploited deposit was discovered in the 17th century, when a Conquistador from the Iberian Peninsula married Princess Anahi, a native of the local Ayoreos tribe. Here, the mine represented the dowry of the young woman!

Such a beautiful stone will always find fascinated onlookers, however this gemstone only recently arrived on the market. We had to wait until the 1980s to find jewels made of this gem.
