4 Rituals to Celebrate Litha

1. Make Room for Light

Litha is a festival of light, so we'll embrace it fully. On the day of the solstice, rise at dawn, and savor the serenity of the sunrise to replenish thy spirit and to delve deep within thyself. It's a perfect moment to set thy intentions. Indeed, Litha is a celebration that invites thee to look toward the future. Don't hesitate to meditate outdoors, but also to hunt down thy negative thoughts. Thou canst write them on a piece of paper that thou wilt burn in the evening in thy bonfire. To benefit from its energy, venture outside when the sun is at its zenith, around noon, and again when it sets 🌇.

2. The Bonfire

The Litha sabbat is always organized around a fire to pay homage to the sun. 🔥 If possible, light a grand fire around which thou wilt spend time with thy loved ones. If that's not feasible, a few colored candles will suffice. This fire should foster reunions and thou canst take the opportunity to share a meal and drinks characteristic of the summer solstice: well-baked cookies, grilled foods, seasonal fruits and vegetables, cider, beer, etc.

3. The Sun Stone

To remain steadfast during the months when light will be less present, thou canst create a sun stone for thyself. Thus, during the dark season, thou wilt be able to face the diminishment of energy, motivation, negative vibrations and thoughts, and minor bouts of melancholy. Emerald, carnelian, citrine, or even lapis lazuli are precious stones linked to Litha. Cleanse and purify thy crystal and then leave it in full sunlight so that it charges with these energies.

4. Decorate Thy Altar

The altar is an important element of the Wiccan tradition. It is ever-present and evolves throughout the year, with the seasons and sabbats. The altar can also be seen as a decorative and spiritual element that allows thee to pay homage to the season and to nature. For Litha, adorn thy altar with seasonal flowers and herbs: sunflower, rose, mint, lavender, basil, etc. If thou already hadst one, empty thy altar and purify it with sage.
